Transforming the image of Milton Keynes from Concrete Cows to Red Bulls was the theme of the keynote talk at the Biztech Annual Dinner 2011.
Milton Keynes Council Leader Andrew Geary and Deputy Councillor David Hopkins who gave the keynote outlined plans to accelerate the adoption of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) that would set the city apart.
In his keynote address setting out Milton Keynes Smart City vision 2020 Councillor Hopkins presented the "Hopkins 8 P's" building blocks that would focus the Councill's priority areas for a re-engineered local authority. Faster adoption of modern ICT techniques would be key to delivering efficiencies which current funding climate demanded as well as creating new opportunities for smart city innovation in Milton Keynes.
Biztech’s Millbrook Event Fuels Discussion About the Future of Transport

Local businesspeople were recently invited to the renowned Millbrook Vehicle Test and Development Facility for a guided tour and a presentation about the work carried out there, with particular key focus on Millbrook’s contribution to the Low Carbon (fuel consumption) agenda.
The event was one of a series, organised by Biztech, which focused on Low Carbon Transport strategies and gave attendees the opportunity to learn more about low emission vehicles – petrol, diesel, hybrid, electric and hydrogen – from cars to buses and delivery vehicles.
New Network Rail Centre and Sustainable Transport Policies under the Microscope
Biztech, the technology forum for Milton Keynes, recently invited local businesspeople to learn about the new Network Rail Centre in Milton Keynes. Howard Penstone, Network Rail’s Business Development Manager, explained why Milton Keynes was chosen as the location for the centre and described the innovative approaches to planning and design intended to minimise the carbon footprint of the site once it is up and running.
