Broadband and your business – have your say
Businesses in Milton Keynes have an opportunity to highlight their needs in terms of broadband provision in the borough and help shape future services.
Milton Keynes Council, in partnership with Biztech Technology Forum, is undertaking a survey of businesses and residents in Milton Keynes and wants people to have their say.
As one of the first areas in the UK to be selected for the next generation roll-out of super-fast broadband, Milton Keynes will be looking to the benefits this would bring.
Cllr David Hopkins, Milton Keynes Council’s Cabinet member responsible for IT services, said: “Your response is important in demonstrating where we are and where we want to go with next generation broadband.”
“Broadband providers respond to demand and would invest their infrastructure in areas that show a real demand for a service. That is why it is important for as many people as possible to take part in the survey.”
Biztech Technology Forum, a non-profit organisation based in Milton Keynes, is also keen to gauge the use of broadband by businesses and understand the impact of this on the local economy.
Nimish Sawjani, spokesman for Biztech, added: “The world is a more connected place and broadband allows people to work in ways that were not possible just a few years ago.”
“The opportunities that broadband can bring cannot be dismissed and in a world where businesses are gaining competitive advantage through broadband it is important for organisations in Milton Keynes to have their say and help ensure that future provision will allow them to compete not only nationally but also globally.”
Firms are being encouraged to have their say now by visiting www.milton-keynes.gov.uk/mylocalbroadband and to forward the link to their employees and other local businesses.
