2017 will be the year that Milton Keynes enters a third age of technology-driven growth.
That’s according to the city’s Biztech Technology Forum, which exists to showcase the great things happening in MK.
“The city’s first age of growth was driven by physical developments since the founding of the city, 50 years ago in 1967,” said Fredi Nonyelu, the chairman of Biztech.
“The second age of growth began when the large companies and retailers came here and was driven very much by the service sector.
“The city’s third age of growth will feature technology and the future. We already see the start of this new revolution with the emergence of autonomous vehicles being driven around the city centre, supported by the Transport Systems Catapult which is based here.
“Added to this is the smart city revolution, which Milton Keynes is leading, and the fact that the city is one of the fastest growing places in the UK.”
In 2016 Biztech events included our flagship BrightSparc Awards highlighting innovation and our showcases of robotics, cybersecurity, MK:Smart and the Gigabit City initiative, which is bringing ultra-fast broadband speeds to businesses across Milton Keynes.
Fredi said: “Until now slow broadband has been one of the few things holding us back. Ultra-fast broadband could very well be seen as a key to unlocking even faster growth.
“As an organisation, Biztech looks forward to showcasing the very best of technology in Milton Keynes and the surrounding region and providing valuable networking and connection opportunities for those companies.
“As Milton Keynes celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2017 Biztech looks forward to being a part of the city’s exceptionally exciting prospects.”
